少陰受病，脉象微細，病人只覺睏倦，時時想睡。
When shaoyin is diseased, the pulse is faint and fine, and the patient only wants to sleep.

少陰病，想吐而又吐不出，心中煩躁，只是睏睡；到了五六日，自下利而口渴的，就屬少陰。
In shaoyin disease the patient wants to vomit yet cannot, is restless at heart, and only wants to sleep; by the fifth or sixth day, if there is spontaneous diarrhoea with thirst, it belongs to shaoyin.

When both yin and yang positions of the pulse are tight and sweat appears instead, the yang is perishing; this belongs to shaoyin, and as a rule there will be sore throat followed by vomiting and diarrhoea.

In shaoyin disease with a tight pulse, by the seventh or eighth day spontaneous diarrhoea appears, the pulse suddenly becomes faint, the hands and feet turn warm instead, and the tightness leaves: this is about to resolve. Though there be restlessness and diarrhoea, it will heal of itself.

In shaoyin disease with cold limbs alone and no sweat, if sweat is forced, the blood will be stirred; it is not known by which route it will leave, perhaps from mouth and nose, perhaps from the eyes. This is called lower reversal with upper exhaustion, and it is hard to treat.
