惡 wù, to shrink from; 風 fēng, wind. The patient is not cold in still air but cannot bear the least draught, and wants the door shut. It is the milder cousin of aversion to cold, and the book puts the two side by side in one line:
Shuowen

In brief

Shrinking from a draught. It differs from aversion to cold in that wind must be there to bring it on, and the book uses the difference to sort the two faces of taiyang: wind strike is named with aversion to wind, cold damage with aversion to cold. The two do occur together — one line of the chapter has the patient shivering with cold and wincing at wind at once — and aversion to wind also appears with a stiff back and sweating, where the pattern is not simple wind strike.

Senses in the classical corpus

1
The mark of wind strike
Fever, sweat, aversion to wind and a slack pulse: these name wind strike.
2
Beside aversion to cold
A shivering cold and a wincing at wind, a gathering fever, a ringing in the nose and dry retching: cinnamon twig decoction governs it.
3
Not always simple wind strike
Stiffness of nape and back looks like the hard form of spasm; but with sweat and aversion to wind it is not spasm, it is the taiyang tract failing to course freely.
