bāo luò
Also rendered: Network of the womb (this site; 胞 is the womb and 絡 the network, and both halves of the name are needed) · Uterine network (the plainer anatomical term, where the emphasis is on the structure rather than on the tying)

At a glance
The network of the womb, tied to the kidney and through the lesser yin vessel to the root of the tongue. Chapter 47 explains the loss of voice in the ninth month by it, and then refuses to treat it: the network will open again after the birth, and the only rule the chapter lays down is the one it quotes from the Canon of Needling — do not detract from what is insufficient.
Passages where the term does real work, with the original, pinyin and English on the same line.
Every rendering below is a decision about which reader is being addressed. There is no neutral option.
| This site | network of the womb | 絡 is rendered as network vessel throughout, so that 胞絡 reads with the rest of the vocabulary |
| Unschuld | network of the womb | he keeps 胞 as the womb |
| Wiseman | uterine network | his system uses the anatomical term |
